The world’s most expensive property, the La Leopolda Villa is situated in the French town of Villefranche-sur-Mer on the French Riviera. The mansion currently belongs to the Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, and earlier Bill Gates owned it. The villa flourishes with some 20 acres of gardens, and was originally built by King Leopold II of Belgium for his mistress Blanche Zélia Joséphine Delacroix. The villa requires 50 full-time gardeners to look after the estate, which includes 1200 olive, orange, lemon and cypress trees.

According to the Wealthy Report 2011, Monaco remains to be one of the world’s most expensive residential locations. This penthouse has two floors of block flats, and each suit has its own cinema, kitchen, dressing room and two bathrooms. The lavish house also has a spa, library and its own gardens.
