Has Sarah Jessica Parker put her shoe in her mouth?
In an interview with Net-A-Porter, the former Sex and the City star famed for wearing pricey high heels from such designers as Manolo Blahnik blamed pairs of “cheap shoes” from the hugely popular Aldo and Nine West brands for ruining her feet.
But most American women might not be able to feel Sarah’s pain — because Aldo and Nine West brands cost MORE than what most pay for shoes on an average basis!
This week, Sarah said she damaged her feet while playing working mom Kate Reddy in the 2011 movie I Don’t Know How She Does It.
While she recalled that to play Carrie Bradshaw for Sex and the City she “wore beautiful shoes and I never complained,” things changed for the film role. “I did I Don’t Know How She Does It and I was very thoughtful about my whole wardrobe and said you know [my character] could not afford really good shoes, she would go to Nine West or Aldo,” Sarah told Net-A-Porter.
“So I got shoes from there and the bottom of the shoes aren’t leather, they are plastic, so I slipped a couple times, twisted my ankle. I went to a foot doctor and he said, ‘Your foot does things it shouldn’t be able to do. That bone there…You’ve created that bone. it doesn’t belong there.”
Sarah concluded, “It’s sad, because my feet took me all over the world, but eventually they were like, ‘You know what, we are really tired, can you just stop — and don’t put cheap shoes on us’?
”But according to a poll by ShopSmart magazine, most American women only spend about $50 for a pair of shoes. And Aldo and Nine West high heels generally sell for $69-120!
So did Sarah simply show that she was out of step with the average woman? One thing’s for sure — the actress is laying off the high heels on her down time! Sarah has been spotted walking in comfortable, sensible shoes with her kids James, 10 and twins Tabitha and Loretta, 3, and husband Matthew Broderick.
