Kelly Osbourne Sings a Different Tune About Giuliana Rancic After Apology to Zendaya
On Tuesday, Kelly Osbourne was threatening to quit “Fashion Police” over co-star Giuliana Rancic‘s
comment about actress Zendaya’s Oscars red carpet dreadlocks. By
Thursday, Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter was singing a different tune: one of
the “this too shall pass” variety — a hashtag she implemented in
praising both fellow females.
“It takes a strong women to
apologize & makes a forgiving women even stronger!
#ThisTooShallPass,” Osbourne wrote this morning.
As Osbourne referenced, Zendaya has accepted Rancic’s apology, capping her forgiveness with a Martin Luther King Jr. The actress had previously publicly expressed her displeasure, calling Rancic’s comment “ignorant.” Osbourne reacted strongly too.

On Monday’s “Fashion Police,”
Rancic recapped the Oscars red carpet with her colleagues, saying of
Zendaya’s hair: “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed.”
That didn’t go over too well, though Rancic’s co-workers chuckled at the time.

Oscars 2015: Best Dressed Stars Rosamunud Pike, Emma Stone and More!

Now that we’ve seen all the glamorous (and polarizing!)
looks hit the Oscars red carpet, we’ve narrowed down our top picks
below. (Don’t see your favorite? Be sure to share your thoughts in the
comments!)

Oscars 2015 Rosamund Pike
Jason Merritt/Getty
Sarah Kinonen, Editorial Assistant: I’ve fallen head over heels with Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike’s scarlet-hued
scalloped strapless Givenchy Haute Couture number. I love the gown’s
textured rose design, her monochromatic matching heels and her glamorous
updo. Pike took a risk with this look, and it totally paid off: It’s a
much bolder look than what we’ve been seeing on her all award show
season. Plus, I still can’t believe the actress just had a baby — you’d never know it in this sexy number.

OScars 2015 Emma Stone
Jason Merritt/Getty
Catherine Kast, Style Writer: I’ll admit that when Emma
first hit the carpet in this custom Elie Saab Haute Couture gown, I
wasn’t in love with it (I really wanted her to pick this winged
Valentino gown that editor Alex Apatoff chose for her). But after seeing it from a few different angles (hello, the back) and examining her Tiffany & Co. cuffs up close
I grew to love it. Some might think that this chartreuse long-sleeved
gown might have felt a wee-bit mother of the bride, but Emma herself is
so far from that it’s almost comical. She’s a young spunky red-haired
nominee who favors unforgettable fashion moments (remember the onesie at the Globes and a smoking-jacket inspired gown
at SAGs?). Would I myself wear chartreuse? Probably not. But if I were
Emma Stone, I’d probably be daring and clever enough to go for it.

Oscars 2015 Gwyneth Paltrow
Jason Merritt/Getty
Andrea Lavinthal, Style and Beauty Director: Love her or hate her, you have to admit that Gwyneth Paltrow
always wears something worth talking about on the red carpet and this
pale pink Ralph & Russo Couture one-shoulder gown was no exception.
The custom-made design was adapted from a look on the Spring/Summer 2015
runway and features a dramatic oversize rose. On anyone else, the dress
may have come off as “Dynasty spring formal” (which is how one editor here described it), but I think Paltrow pulled it off like a pro and I love how she styled it with Anna Hu statement earrings and sleek hair.

Oscars 2015 Marion Cotillard
Jason Merritt/Getty
Alex Apatoff, Senior Style Editor: I’m not going to
lie to you, there was no one look on the Oscars red carpet that had me
sending “🙌 🙌 🙌” to all my friends. Actually, this year, I thought the
guys brought it much more in the style department than the ladies. But
Marion came closest to wowing me on all fronts: Her Dior Haute Couture
dress was beautiful and classic from the front, surprising and fashion-forward from the back,
and her styling — including those Chopard gems and elegant updo — was
unimpeachable. Next year, I’m hoping she brings this times 1,000.

Oscars 2015 Reese Witherspoon
Jason Merritt/Getty
Brittany Talarico, Style News Editor: Everyone thought Julianne Moore would be the one to wear Tom Ford, but Reese Witherspoon
totally surprised me when she hit the red carpet in this
black-and-white dress. It was one of the only dresses that screamed “I’m
at the Oscars!” and it made her body look absolutely flawless. (She has
a Barbie-size waist!) Her center-parted waves and statement earrings
were the perfect finishing touchings. It might not have been the wild choice I was predicting for the star, but she was definitely the definition of glam.

Emma Stone, Rita Ora And More Are Best Dressed At 2015 Academy Awards

Although the Academy Awards were generally hit or miss, red carpet
fashion certainly didn’t disappoint. There were a bunch of super fancy
custom gowns (including Emma Stone’s Elie Saab and Rita Ora’s Marchesa),
a few straight-off-the-runway numbers (shouts to Keira Knightley’s
Valentino confection), and 6,000 pearls on a single dress (we’re lookin’
at you, Lupita Nyong’o).

All in all, it was an entertaining glamorous affair that made sitting
on a couch in front of a TV for six solid hours totally worth it.
Because six hours is a long time and your memory is very short, we’re
here to give you a refresher about the best looks of the night.

  • Emma Stone in Elie Saab

    Emma Stone
    Getty Images
It’s never a question of whether Emma Stone will be on the best dressed
list; the only question is what exactly she’ll choose to inevitably land
on said list. Tonight, it was a custom long-sleeved Elie Saab number in
a uniquely gorgeous golden chartreuse shade. You can never go wrong
with a redhead in green. Especially if that redhead is Emma Stone.

  • Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein

    Lupita Nyong'o
    Getty Images
Lupita’s custom Calvin gown had a killer plunging neckline, a clever
keyhole cutout, and more than 6,000 (!!!) pearls. A gratuitous pearl of
wisdom: Lupita can do no wrong.

  • Anna Kendrick in Thakoon

    Anna Kendrick
    Getty Images
On a red carpet filled with shades of gray (no pun intended—there was a
lot of silver tonight, honest!), Anna stunned in this coral,
jeweled-necklace Thakoon number that was both elegant and playful and
    refreshing. Much like Anna herself.

  • Chloe Grace Moretz in Miu Miu

    Chloe Grace Moretz
    Getty Images
Chloe loves herself some Miu Miu, which is excellent, because we
all love her in Miu Miu and Miu Miu appears to love her right back. She
looks as comfortable in this floral full-skirted gown as you and I look
    in sweats. (Very.) Also, POCKETS!

  • Dakota Johnson in Saint Laurent

    Dakota Johnson
    Getty Images
It’s been a while since the one-shouldered silhouette had a big moment,
but this killer Saint Laurent dress in a super-hot red is sure to bring
    that trend back immediately.

  • Jennifer Lopez in Elie Saab

    Jennifer Lopez
    Getty Images
It’s impossible to mention Jennifer Lopez’s Elie Saab dress (or any of Jennifer Lopez’s dresses,
TBH) without mentioning her glorious décolletage. But we’ll try! Her
dress was gorgeously embellished, expertly tailored, and very,
    very…nude. The color! And otherwise.

  • Reese Witherspoon in Tom Ford

What’s black and white and maddeningly chic? Reese Witherspoon’s off-the-shoulder column dress by certified wizard Tom Ford.

  • Keira Knightley in Valentino

    Keira Knightley
    Getty Images
Keira looked like a Shakespearean princess—which is honestly nothing new
for her, but is still charming nonetheless—in her Valentino Couture
gown that made its runway debut literally weeks ago.

  • Chrissy Teigen in Zuhair Murad

    Chrissy Teigen
    Getty Images
Chrissy’s incredible gravity-defying dress deserves an award just for being so expertly constructed and accident-proof. Just…how?

  • Rita Ora in Marchesa

    Rita Ora
    Getty Images
For Rita’s first-ever Oscars, she went all out in the kind of fairytale
Marchesa fishtail gown little girls dream of. (What, you didn’t dream
about fairytale Marchesa gowns when you were a little girl? You totally did.)

10 Ideas to Steal from Rue Magazine's Small Space Issue

Digital lifestyle publication Rue magazine released their 25th issue
this week, all about small spaces. Between their editors' smart ideas
and tips from three real New York City studio dwellers, the issue is
ripe with inspiration for living small.

Here are some of our favorite tips:

  • Nesting tables are a space-saver. They can be collapsed to maximize
floor space, or pulled out when extra company is over. In the issue,
Rue Art Director (and blogger at Design Conundrum) Maia McDonald picks her favorites.

  • Turn books around, their spines facing away from you, to visually
de-clutter a bookshelf. Photographer and mixed-media artist Emily
Johnston thinks it makes her East Village studio space more restful for
    sleeping.

  • Large-scale prints of landscapes and cityscapes can feel like windows and open up a small room, as seen here in Emily's kitchen.

  • Try hanging a hammock indoors to make use of vertical space and
have a fun spot to host spry guests. The hammock in Emily's bed nook
makes the space a "lounge" and gives another place to entertain friends
    or catch up on reading.
  • Be thoughtful about what's on display. Not all storage can be
concealed in a small space. Emily uses open shelving in the kitchen, but
    hides clothes behind a curtain.

  • Think of every surface as an opportunity. Dru Ortega, part of the
PR team for One Kings Lane, uses the windowsill in his Long Island City
studio as a mini cocktail station when he entertains.
  • When building an art collection, start small and keep it personal.
Dru and his One Kings Lane colleagues believe that an art collection
should be a layered visual timeline of your past.

  • Don't let a small space dictate how you live. Artist Caroline Z
Hurley uses the kitchen in her West Village apartment to host dinner
    parties.
  • Always make your bed (even if it's lofted). Caroline swears that even a tiny mess looks so much messier in in a small space.

  • And a tip for homes of any size... bring in something living.
Plants and flowers brighten any space, says Caroline. Scale the plant to
your space (we love this tiny potted plant in her kitchen).

The Commandments of Decorating an All-White Room

Sticking with all-white in an interior space has a lot of advantages.
Light and airy, you'll be left with bright spaces that feel refreshing
and peaceful. Those who rent will find solace in being able to work with
can't-paint white walls. Not having a lot of colors in a space allows
the people to become the paint that splashes colorfully on your home's
palette. But creating stunning all-white rooms isn't as easy as simply
leaving out the color. Here are the best 5 "rules" to consider when
crafting an all-white (or nearly all-white) room.

1. Focus on texture

If you're not going to have a lot of visual stimulation with color
in your rooms, you're going to want to fill in that gap with texture.
Seek out surfaces like rugs and throw blankets with thick, rough or
interesting textures. White-wash textured furniture pieces to add to the
room.

2. Mind your surfaces (and know your stains)

Whether you have kids or not, a white room is a magnet for stains.
But you shouldn't avoid an all-white room just because you're a little
on the clumsy side. Just invest in materials that resist stains or are
easily cleanable. Upholstery for the outdoors and/or stain guards can be
used for upholstered furniture. It's also smart to know how best to
clean your surfaces before you bring them into your space (and
before you spill anything). But don't forget about your white walls,
baseboards and window trim — get on a regular cleaning schedule so they
don't end up looking dirty.

3. Consider more stuff

Again, with so little interest in the way of bold hues, you've got
to add in interest in other ways. Like with texture, as mentioned above.
But also with, and this might be a bit controversial to say, stuff. Not
necessarily with more stuff, though that can help. No, we're
talking about the art of layering, and how when you're working
predominantly with only a handful of shades of white, you can use
layering to create a lot of interest in a room.

4. Choose the white right

Like any paint color, you're going to want to really be picky when
it comes to the shade of white you use on your walls or or furniture,
for the wrong paint color can make a whole room seem dingy or even too
sterile. Finding the right white for your space will mean looking to a
trusted list of paint colors that others have had success with and then
bringing home samples to look at in your space under all light
conditions. Start with the suggestions in the comments of this post:
