In her latest show of unwavering support for young American designers, First Lady Michelle Obama wore a dress by New York-based up-and-comer Tanya Taylor.
She chose the spring 2014 dress -- a "sleeveless cocktail dress in
Rainbow Scroll print" -- for a naturalization ceremony swearing in 50
new U.S. citizens in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

This was
Obama's first time wearing the label, so we reached out to Taylor to get
her reaction. As you'd imagine, she was really, really excited. "This came as a big surprise!" she wrote in an email. "I saw the First Lady for the first time in my dress when she uploaded it to Instagram
after yesterday's ceremony. My team and I were all so incredibly
honored and thrilled to see such a strong woman supporting a young
designer brand like us. I couldn't call my parents and husband fast
enough to tell them the news and then we all put on celebratory music in
the studio and did a little dance."

The move makes us love Mrs. O that much more, and, obviously, the political fashion plate is known for putting a name or two on the map.
Tanya Taylor is getting some major visibility pretty early in her
career: The 28-year-old has only been around for five seasons, and just
this month, debuted a collection of resortwear. Here's to many, many more.
