Oprah Winfrey's Houses in Montecito and Maui

Happy Birthday, Oprah! Peek Inside Her Homes

It's Oprah's birthday today, and we thought we'd celebrate by taking a tour of two of her favorite places. First stop is her home in Montecito, just outside of Santa Barbara, CA. Full of patterns and saturated color, the house exudes comfort and boasts a calming teahouse and rose garden. Next up is her farmhouse in Maui, with a wraparound porch (our favorite) and plenty of windows that let in the light and frame the surrounding natural beauty. Enjoy this little peek into Oprah's houses and, if you see her, don't forget to wish her happy birthday!

The library in Oprah's Montecito guesthouse is a perfect example of the power of symmetry and repetition. Mirror-image whitewash built-ins are home to a variety of collections, ranging from books to steins. An over-size penny above the door provides an anchor for the wall.

In the guesthouse master suite, a pattern explosion is contained by a cohesive lavender color palette.

Overstuffed furniture and a roaring fire complement the warm colors used in the guesthouse sitting room. The orange and yellow tones take their cue from the oil painting above the mantel.

A wall in the guesthouse dining room is adorned with framed landscapes, inspired by the California landscape. Porcelain chickens and cane chairs infuse the room with a country chic.

The yellow and gray striped walls look like wallpaper but are actually hand painted.

The study in the guesthouse uses the same green and cream pattern on the walls, drapes, and couch, making the small room seem larger.

Oprah purchased an existing home but had it renovated to include a large wraparound porch, providing a perfect place to take in the stunning view.

Instead of more traditional Hawaiian decor, decorator Ellie Cullman, incorporated a farmhouse vibe.

Pattern-loving Oprah adorned her kitchen ceiling with a stencil but left the rest of the kitchen clean and simple.

Dining Comfort
The long dining room table was reclaimed from a former pool hall and seats six comfortably.

Oprah's prized painting, The Waterboy, by Thomas Hart Benton sits above an antique dresser that still shows traces of the original blue paint.
